22 Jump Street.  It’s actually more of a comedy about sequels than it is a sequel to a comedy.

Jersey Boys.  If Da Man had his way, the title of this film would be Jersey Boy, or maybe The One Season, or possibly just Frankie Valli.

How to Train Your Dragon 2  Dragons may be creations of fantasy, but the reality is that this sequel holds its own against the original.  Hiccup, Toothless, and the gang are back together, and this is a flight of fantasy you’ll want to take.

Carrie.  Watching the remake of Carrie is a bit like being locked in a closet with a bunch of dull people for ninety minutes.

Room 237.  If Stanley Kubrick had wanted to make room 237 in The Shining really scary, he would have filled it with film critics and conspiracy-theory nuts arguing about the meaning of his film.

Cinema Misfits Podcast, Episode 72: White House Down, World War Z, and The Lone Ranger

White House Down.  Once you’ve said Channing Tatum’s acting is the best thing in a movie, you’ve pretty much said all you need to know about a film.

World War Z.  While most summer blockbusters have a 2 or 3 after their titles and are walking dead versions of a one-time original story or character, World War Z actually manages to breathe new life into the expiring zombie genre.

Bonus Spring Cleaning Episode: People Like Us, Magic Mike, and Chasing Mavericks

People Like Us.  “People Like Us” is the reason movies like this are so frustrating for an audience like The Misfits.

Magic Mike.  Cheaper than a “hen party,” safer than a bunch of “rope tricks,” and definitely less degrading than a “pervy hole,” the Misfits offer their review of Magic Mike, the story of a misunderstood male stripper.  But if watching the “bump and grind” isn’t enough and you decide to take it all the way, remember to be sure and “cloak the captain.”

Chasing Mavericks.  Some movies are more than the sum of their parts; This film is more than the sum of its too many parts.  Despite too many characters, too many coincidences, and too many plot lines, it still manages to be a pretty decent film about surfing.
